Guest Speaker Guidelines

Thank you for agreeing to serve as a guest speaker for a meeting of the Rotary Club of Mecklenburg County-South.  Our weekly Friday morning breakfast meetings are held at the TPC Piper Glen Country Club in Charlotte, NC.  The address and directions can be found below.  Our members start to arrive about 7:20AM.  The meeting begins at 7:30AM and concludes promptly at 8:30AM.  You are our guest. So when you arrive be sure and let the Sergeant-at-Arms know you are the speaker and please don’t pay for breakfast. The guest speaker is normally introduced about 8:05AM. Club members expect guest speakers to make a 15-20 minute presentation followed by a few minutes of questions and answers.  Please let us know if you will need additional time.  Typically we have between 20 to 30 Rotarians and guests in attendance.  Presentations should not promote a specific business or its services and should be non-political and non-sectarian, unless you have been invited specifically for that purpose.  Directly soliciting purchases or donations is not recommended.  Guest speakers are welcome to invite interested club members to stay after the meeting for more information.  Handouts for club members are welcome.  If you have need for any audio-visual equipment such as an overhead projector or screen please let us know as soon as possible.

  Several weeks prior to your speaking engagement please send us some form of a personal bio and your speaking topic so we can update our club calendar and so that you can be properly introduced.

 Directions:    

From I-77: Exit onto I-485 East and take the Rea Road Exit (#59). Turn left and Piper Glen Drive is the first street on the right. Drive 1.2 miles through the neighborhood and you will come to the Tournament Players Club at Piper Glen.  

From I-85 North: Exit at I-485 West. Follow I-485 West to Rea Road Exit (#59) and turn right. Piper Glen Drive is the first street on the right. Drive 1.2 miles through the neighborhood and you will come to the Tournament Players Club at Piper Glen.

From I-85 South: Exit onto I-77 South. Take I-485 East to Rea Road (#59) and turn left. Piper Glen Drive is the first street on the right. Drive 1.2 miles through the neighborhood and you will come to the Tournament Players Club at Piper Glen.

From the South Park Area: From Fairview Road, travel south on Colony Road. Colony Road will eventually turn into Rea Road. Continue south on Rea Road. After crossing over Highway 51/Pineville-Matthews Road, Piper Glen Drive will be the third street on the left just before I-485. Drive 1.2 miles through the neighborhood and you will come to the Tournament Players Club at Piper Glen.
